"It was
truly empowering to have a vaginal birth"
"I am
typically a very private person and my belief system
(e.g. I am not a "spiritual" person, I do not feel
strongly about "natural" childbirth, etc.) is such that
I did not think that having a doula would be a good fit
for me. I did know after the traumatic experience my
husband and I went through during the birth of my first
child, that we needed someone else involved with this
birth to advocate for us and provide support.
After meeting
with Jun-Nicole I was sold on the idea of having a doula
or at least having HER as a doula. I think that my
change of heart had to d
o
with the fact that
she respected what we wanted for this birth without
judgment. She spent a lot of time getting to know
my husband and I as individuals and walking us through
how she would be able to help us when we were in the
moment. During the birth, she was very supportive
of both of us. I truly believe that without her
expertise I would not have been able to have a VBAC.
She was able to help me with positioning, using the baby
sling as a labor tool, and techniques to shift the baby
when he was malpositioned.
This
experience helped to ease the trauma I held from the
birth of my first child and restored my faith in my
body. It was truly empowering to have a vaginal
birth and Jun-Nicole helped to make this experience
happen through her support during both the pregnancy and
